Personal electric vehicles are already on your streets — sold openly, taxed, and ridden by commuters who did nothing wrong. Banning the category punishes all of them for the choices of a few, and it doesn't make a single street measurably safer. We think there's a better path: the one every other vehicle category eventually took.
We've solved a version of this problem before, with far more dangerous vehicles — not by banning them, but by building licensing, registration, insurance, and accountability around them. Personal electric vehicles are missing almost all of that. A ban skips straight past building it. We think the way through is to make PEVs and their riders legible — to each other, to the people around them, and to the systems that would otherwise have nothing to work with.
To be plain about it: we're not asking any city to require this. We're saying that if a city ever decides connected technology is part of how PEVs get regulated, we'd rather be ready with an honest answer than let a ban happen because no better option existed.

GPS drifts and map data goes stale. When we're not confident, nothing changes — the vehicle behaves exactly as it always has. The failure mode is always "did nothing," never "restricted a rider who was fine."
Everything above runs on the rider's own device, for the rider. We don't operate a central tracking system watching where riders are, and we're not building one. If a rider ever chooses to share a summary of their own riding — with an insurer, for example — that's their call to make, never ours to take.
